Onboard LED: First Blink

35 min · teams of 2

Upload a sketch that switches the LED already on the Uno on and off.

Build A one-second on, one-second off built-in LED blink.

sketch, setup and loopdigital output and HIGH/LOW

Lab 2 builds the output circuit yourself on a breadboard.

External LED: Build the Circuit

45 min · teams of 2

Recreate blink with a breadboard LED, its resistor and a wire to digital pin 8.

Build An LED on D8 that blinks one second on, one second off.

breadboard rows and common groundanode, cathode and current-limiting resistor

Lab 3 repeats this same circuit pattern for multiple independently timed outputs.

Multiple Outputs: A Traffic Signal

55 min · teams of 2

Build three copies of the LED circuit and sequence them with explicit instructions.

Build Three individually driven LEDs on D8, D9 and D10 in a traffic-light-like sequence.

Lab 4 replaces a fixed timed sequence with behavior controlled by a human button.

Pushbutton: Input Changes Output

60 min · teams of 2

Press a button to light an external LED and read an active-low input.

Build A button between D2 and GND turns a current-limited D8 LED on while pressed.

digitalRead and conditional decisionsINPUT_PULLUP: unpressed HIGH, pressed LOW

Lab 5 replaces the button’s two states with a range of measured analog values.

Potentiometer: Measure and Dim

65 min · teams of 2

Measure a changing voltage on A0 and set the brightness of a resistor-protected LED on PWM pin D9.

Build A knob controls the perceived brightness of an external LED.
